DION
SAO PAULO, BRAZILC.R.E.A.M
Dion's introduction to street art was through 'pixações'. Dion is one of Sao Paulo's preeminent graffiti writers.
Through his latest piece, "C.R.E.A.M." Dion delivers a powerful social commentary on modern consumerist society's fascination with "cash", Using bold shapes, along with international currency as a basis for his work, Dion highlights the pervasive nature of capital in our world.
By stripping the currency of its value, placing it literally out of context both in terms of its location and material use, Dion raises another striking point: when the value of coins is "relative", why then are we so preoccupied by personal finances? He intends to open the viewer's eyes to the overwhelming imbalance of wealth throughout the world, subtly providing his observers with a bit of a reality check.
